The Chairman has now been given contact details of a company who can supply scaffold boards and poles for repairing several swims during the work parties. John Pryor will follow this up and enquire about prices.
In order to use larger electrical items on the lakes, it would be advisable to purchase a generator that outputs to standard 13amp plugs. This will be investigated and reported on at the next meeting.
Work parties in May should concentrate on strimming the front lake and carrying out swim and pathway repairs on the back lake along with strimming and rubbish clearance.

15.3.07
Review of the K.P.A.C. Committee meeting held on 15th Mar 2007
The Chairman welcomed John Pryor into the new position as club Secretary.
The planned meeting with WRG had been cancelled by WRG at the last minute as they had nobody in the area to represent them. However, the new lease for the lake has been agreed for another year, with a good chance of getting a further three-year extension. Thanks to Angela Bee for all the effort she has put in on our behalf.
The Vice Chairman mentioned how Scaffold boards were difficult to obtain and Kerry Emmins agreed to take on the task.
The Membership Secretary reported some members have asked for new membership I.D.s as the old ones are falling apart. It was agreed to produce new, stronger cards for the new season. Tony has asked all existing members to either send or e-mail photos for this purpose. Tony also stated that a member had asked if existing members changing to a family ticket would have to pay administration fees, it was agreed they would not.
A poster advertising for new members is now displayed in Ockendon Bait & Tackle shop.

The Match Secretary reported that Pike Match 2 was won by Adam Raynham with 7lb. = 20 points. Overall winner for the two Pike matches was John Paine with a total weight of 14 lb. = 20points + biggest weight. Next season a 5-point attendance bonus will be added to all anglers total for each match fished.
A suggestion was also put to the committee to incorporate some Family & Junior matches on our own lakes to encourage better attendances. Suggested dates were Pole Match 1 to include a Junior Match and Pole Match 2 to include a Family Match. All agreed and subsequently incorporated into the new match fixtures list for 2007/08.
The P.R. Secretary confirmed just over 1000 hits on the website this month resulting in 9 new membership applications.
There has been a request for a Junior Member on the Committee. This will be considered. There is also a suggestion for a monthly judging of all junior pictures sent through to the website. Winners for each month to go into a draw for the end of the year with a small prize for the winner. All agreed.

25.9.06
In order to promote growth of the friendly forms of lilypads on the back lake, action has been taken to remove the wild varieties which have become so popular over the last season. It was felt that steps needed to be taken immediately on the back lake due to the voracious spread of the plants making it difficult to fish some of the swims. Signs of the wild lilypads dying back should be apparent over the colder months and assuming everything has been done correctly, we should have a much more open and fishable lake at the beginning of next season. The herbicide expert we employed to carry out this procedure has also looked at the problem on the front lake and, depending on the results of a recently released chemical to control the spread of wild plants, will be making another visit in the new year with a view to erradiating much of the soft hornwort which is still in attendance. Water management of this nature is an expensive business and the K.P.A.C. committee are determined to provide the best possible fishing conditions as possible for its club members.

Purchase of an inflatale boat for use on either lake when removing weed, lily pads, obstructions etc was discussed and Tony Bee confirmed the boats arrival in a few days time. Booking of tickets on-line was raised and although it wasn't heavily used, the website will continue to offer this service for a further trial period of two months. Rod Worton stood down as Treasurer for which he was thanked for his services over the last few years and Dave Haydon was voted in as the new Treasurer until the 2007 AGM.
The Vice-Chairman reported on the poor turn-out of the Presentation dance held in May and raised the question as to whether it was financially viable to continue with such events which also includes the Christmas dance. This will be reviewed at a future meeting.

Update on the Back Lake
: We received a report today from the Environment Agency which confirmed the results of the tests carried out on the water quality of the Back Lake. The test results were excellent and allowed us to open the back lake and continue fishing with immediate effect. Would everyone who fishes either of the Lakes please report as soon as possible any signs of distressed or dead fish to either a bailiff or to the club via email. We would like to pass on our thanks to everyone for their cooperation and hope you enjoy the rest of the seasons fishing.

8.7.06 Update on the Back Lake: Since the problem was discovered on the Back Lake, the Environment Agency have now visited KPAC twice in order to determine the cause and possible solution. In total, 30 carp have been lost and we believe some of the clubs largest fish were among them. The EA have tested the water and their initial findings indicate no disease is present and the most probable cause is the water's oxygen levels dropping to a very low level, insufficient to sustain the older fish in the lake. The EA will be returning on Wednesday 12th July, hopefully with a full set of test results. Until this time at least, the Back Lake remains closed.
3.7.06 In order to safeguard other lakes being fished in the local area, would everyone who uses the Kennington Park complex please ensure that all landing nets, keepnets, weighslings etc are either dipped in an appropriate disinfectant before fishing or be absolutely sure that they are totally dry from the previous fishing session. Diseases are easily spread through having wet nets and the Environment Agency have asked us to minimise the risk by limiting the possibilities of disease by adopting one of these two options. With the warm weather upon us, please keep your nets dry as much as possible and only use your keepnet if necessary.
1.7.06 As of today, the Back Lake has been closed and will remain closed until further notice. The Environment Agency have been informed of a problem being experienced on the lake and until they make a decision the lake is not to be fished. Would everyone who wishes to fish at the Kennington Park complex, please use the Front Lake. When further details are known, they will be made available by way of this website and through the KPAC newsletter scheme via email. Your cooperation in this matter is much appreciated and we can assure you that everything possible is being carried out to safeguard the well-being of the fish.
22.6.06 The annual Youth match took place this year at Puddledock Farm fishery on Saturday 17th June. A match report and photographs of everyone who took part can be found here
28.5.06 The club held its annual presentation evening on 27th May at Aveley Football Club. Prizes were awarded to those who won the various competitions throughout the 05/06 season and with a variety of other prizes, raffles and a DJ, a good night was had by all. Why not come along to the next arranged evening, the Christmas Dance on 9th December. Support the club and have a good time. See you there !
20.4.06 Review of the K.P.A.C. Committee meeting no. 76, held on 20th April 2006
The Chairman brought to the attention of the committee, an incident which occurred on the Front lake just recently. Having discussed this at some length, it was agreed that the Secretary would issue a newsletter to all members of the club ensuring this was mentioned.
The lighting of fires around the lakes was raised and it was agreed that new boards with clear warnings should be installed as soon as possible.
The issue of the Head Bailiff not being available at certain times to book day tickets was brought up. A solution to this was to have an on-line booking form available on the KPAC website to offer an alternative method to using the phone. This form is now available for use.
The Vice-Chairman reported on the booking of the Aveley Footbal Club Hall for the annual Presentation Dance on 27th May as well as the booking for the Christmas Dance which will be held on Saturday 9th December.
Confirmation was given that the Youth match date of 17th June had been arranged.

Wood mulch for the refurbishment of paths and swims was on order and should be delivered within the next two weeks.
The Membership Secretary has sent out all renewal forms and it was requested that information regarding their completion and return be placed onto the website.
The Match Secretary brought to everyones attention the possibility of a Memorial match on behalf of Basil Goody. This was agreed unanimously and will be arranged as soon as possible. A large shield tropy will be presented to the winner and will be held for one year, thereafter, a smaller replica will be retained by the winner.
For various reasons, the winter matches which have been held in the past have now been cancelled.
The PR Secretary reported that on average, the website was receiving 2600 page loads per month, amounting to 400 visitors.
Max Blake won March's "spot-the-float" competition and collected a £10 gift voucher for use at Ockendon Bait & Tackle.
It was also agreed that the PR Secretary would attend June's youth match in order to take photos throughout the day for use on both the website and for a report for the Thurrock Gazette.
Any other business. Alan Brown asked if it was possible to purchase more fish for the front lake. Dan Winston asked that if stocking was to take place, would it be possible to also consider Grass carp. New membership cards were to be printed in time for the new season. This is to be dealt with by Rod Worton and Dave Haydon. Kerry Emmins asked for an open match to be considered, possibly at £10 per person in order to boost the clubs funds. Tony Bee brought to everyones attention the possibility of having KPAC logo clothing ie fleeces, caps, T-shirts etc. All of these items will be reported on at the next meeting to be held on 18th May. Meeting closed at 23.15pm
23.4.06 The annual Presentation Evening Dance will be held on Saturday, 27th May. Doors open at 7.30pm.

16.3.06

Review of the K.P.A.C. Committee meeting no. 75, held on 16th March 2006
The Chairman confirmed the recruitment of two new bailiffs, as mentioned in the news item on 27th Feb.
Further discussions need to be held with regard to using the land owned by Mr. Gray in order to have access to the back lake via a gate.
This years work party committments were discussed and appropriate steps were made to ensure improvements to both lakes were completed on schedule, before the start of the new season.
The bridge on the back lake will be slightly altered to allow easier and safer access for those using barrows.
Several swims on the back lake will be dug out and renewed to an appropriate standard of access and safety.
The Vice-Chairman has been approached with a view to purchasing a boat for use on both lakes. This will be considered and reviewed at a later date.
The Membership Secretary has now issued all renewal forms, along with a tear-off slip petitioning for an access gate on the back lake.
The Senior bailiff reported several dead fish appeared to have wounds caused by cormorants.
The Match Secretary issued the match dates for the 2006/07 season and Derek Grimes agreed to arrange the youth match to be held at Puddledock Farm fisheries in North Ockendon on 17th June.
The PR Secretary raised the issue of the "spot the float"competition as well as the winning prize for the forthcoming youth match. It was agreed that a night fishing session with a member of the committee at the well known "Aveley Lakes" complex was a fitting prize for the youth match and that a £10 voucher for use at Ockendon Bait & Tackle was suitable for the monthly competition.
Any other business. Storage of essential K.P.A.C. equipment was necessary and garages within a local, enclosed compound were considered. Costs were paramount and would be decided upon at a future meeting.
After much deliberation, the continued use of keepnets by day-ticket anglers on the front lake was favourably decided upon.
The vast open waters of the front lake are always a concern for the committee and the introduction of floating platforms to provide cover from cormorants was again discussed and taken forward to a future meeting. Meeting closed at 22.14pm

3.4.06 The membership secretary has now posted all membership renewal forms and anyone that doesn't receive theirs before 30th April should contact him via (01708) 867825 or his mobile 07939 411108 between 9am and 9pm or via the website.
Anyone who requires a new photo card should send 2 new photos and full details i.e. membership number, address etc. to him.
Any renewals received after May 31st will be returned and not renewed. Due to the success of the waiting list system, with some people having waited for nearly a year, this is the fairest method of entry into the club.
27.3.06 Once again, K.P.A.C. have been successful in securing the use of Puddledock Farm's Road Lake for our annual Junior Match. This year, the match will take place on Saturday 17th June.
