This years Committee match took place on Sunday 5th August at Puddledock Farm fisheries.
9 of the Clubs committee took part with a view to improving on their performance from previous competitions and
the morning started well with a hearty breakfast, the sun shining and everyone ready for a good day's fishing.
What followed was the organiser, Alan Brown, failing miserably in booking the appropriate lake and after a minor panic, we were eventually ushered instead onto the newly built "Island Lake". Fishing commenced at 9.30 and apart from a few fish being caught, it was a pretty slow morning leaving us all wondering if the new lake had actully been stocked with any fish. Paul Eplett and John Pryor were the early leaders with the remaining 7 anglers just making up the numbers. Lunch couldn't come soon enough and after a swift beer we returned to our pegs to make up for the earlier performance. Rod Worton managed to find some fish whereas for the rest of us, our fish were taking a much earned siesta as they failed to show throughout the afternoon. Besides, we were more concerned about the smell eminating from the local sewage plant. Not a good idea to be so close to one of these on a hot, sunny day!
One or two nice carp were landed by Tony Marshall and at a complete loss as to which bait and method to use, we were soon welcoming the the final whistle at 4pm.
All in all, we once again had a good time. Aided and abetted by friends and family the overall result really didn't matter.
Winning the Basil Goody trophy for the third time was Paul Eplett with 17lb 8oz, 2nd was Rod Worton with 5lb 8oz and 3rd was John Pryor with 3lb 14oz.  Match results for: 2005 & 2006
